Peace Corps and Baldwin Wallace University Announce New Peace Corps Prep Program

BEREA, OH, [Aug. 3, 2015] – The Peace Corps and Baldwin Wallace University today announced a new partnership that will offer students a unique combination of undergraduate coursework and community service that prepares them for a career in international development.

Baldwin Wallace University students will be able to apply to the new Peace Corps Prep program for enrollment beginning in Fall 2015.

Cheerful kids, fulfilling work keep Baldwin Wallace grad’s spirits afloat in the Philippines

Cumberland, Ohio, resident begins Peace Corps service in Philippines

Allison Anne Bay, 24, of Cumberland, Ohio, has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Philippines on July 5 to begin training as an environmental volunteer. Bay will make a difference managing coastal resources and implement projects for environmental sustainability in her local community.

North Ridgeville, Ohio, resident begins Peace Corps service in Benin

Michael McGinty, 23, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Benin June 25 to begin training as an environmental education volunteer. McGinty will make a difference helping community members learn about the environment, sustainable agriculture, and agro-forestry projects.

McGinty is participating in Peace Corps’ Master’s International program, which allows him to earn his master’s degree and complete Peace Corps service simultaneously. McGinty is currently pursuing his master’s in Resource Conservation with an option in International Conservation and Development from the University of Montana in Missoula.

“I found out about Master’s International through the Peace Corps website and personal research,” McGinty said. “As I was torn between doing Peace Corps or just graduate school, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to combine both! I couldn’t be happier with how it has been going so far.” Continue reading “North Ridgeville, Ohio, resident begins Peace Corps service in Benin”
