Caleb and Alexandra Reed, of Joplin, Mo., have been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Colombia Aug. 26 to begin training as education volunteers. They will live and work at the community level to make a difference as English teacher trainers, providing formal and informal support on methodologies, subject content and resource development. Alexandra will work with elementary teachers while Caleb will work in middle and high schools.
“Peace Corps motto is to promote world peace and friendship. This motto hooked me right away,” Alexandra said. “The Peace Corps provides individuals with the opportunity to experience a cultural exchange and friendship abroad. While serving as volunteers in Colombia, we will also be able to work alongside locals to help educate teachers in English teaching methods.” Continue reading “Peace Corps allows couple to use English teaching skills abroad”
