Ashland, Ky., resident begins Peace Corps service in Ukraine


Hannah Flanery, 22, of Ashland, Ky., has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Ukraine March 25 to begin training as a youth development volunteer. Flanery will make a difference teaching classes, organizing extracurricular activities, and developing community projects.

“I’m very passionate about the type of work Peace Corps is doing,” Flanery said. “I believe it will provide me with great development experience abroad.” 

Flanery is the daughter of Barbara Crum and Tony Flanery and a 2008 graduate of Boyd County High School in Ashland, Ky.
