Burr Ridge, Ill., resident begins Peace Corps service in Fiji


Rebecca O’Halloran Evans, 30, of Burr Ridge, Ill., has been accepted into the Peace Corps and will depart for Fiji Sept. 3 to begin training as a community health empowerment volunteer. Evans will make a difference working with the Fiji Ministry of Health to develop outreach tactics to educate community members about their health.

“Although I’ve worked to incorporate public service into my career, the Peace Corps is a learning exchange and unmatched volunteer mission that I can’t wait to experience,” Evans said. “I’m looking forward to doing my part, albeit quite small, to give back to the world on behalf of the United States, a country that welcomed my dad and his family as they emigrated from Cuba in the 1960s.” Continue reading “Burr Ridge, Ill., resident begins Peace Corps service in Fiji”
