What type of work did you do in Peace Corps? I taught high school English on a remote island.
What was the most unusual food or custom you encountered?Filipinos are some of the most kind-hearted and generous people I have ever encountered – and will literally give you the clothes off of their backs and food out of their mouths. I was routinely offered partially eaten donuts, lollipops, and bananas.
Describe a defining event during your service. I taught one of the lowest performing English classes at my high school. My favorite student in the class, Regin, did so well that she moved up into the highest performing class the next year. She graduated from the school’s top class and is now at university studying to become an English teacher. Watching her succeed was one of the most rewarding parts of my Peace Corps service.
One thing you want people to know about Peace Corps. It’s the adventure of a lifetime.
